1. To protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,
especially with reference to the inalienable right of the individual
American citizen guaranteed by such Constitution to acquire, possess,
collect, exhibit, transport, carry, transfer ownership of, and enjoy the
right to use arms, in order that the people may always be in a position
to exercise their legitimate individual rights of self-preservation and
defense of family, person, and property, as well as to serve
effectively in the common defense of the
Republic and the individual liberty of its citizens;
2. To promote public safety, law and order, and the national defense;
3. To train members of law enforcement agencies, the armed forces, and people of good repute in marksmanship and in the safe
handling and efficient use of small arms;
4. To foster and promote the shooting sports, including the advancement of amateur competitions in marksmanship at the local, state, regional, national, and international levels;
5. To promote hunter safety, and to promote and defend hunting as a shooting sport and as a viable and necessary method of fostering the propagation, growth and conservation, and wise use of our renewable wildlife resources.
Beckley Gun Club. Co-Founded the Beckley Gun club in 1977 and was instrumental in the day to day operations of the club. The club is a 500-acre facility consisting of five ranges and class room facilities. The Beckley Gun Club was awarded the following NRA Awards during my leadership; Best Programs 1980, Outstanding Club Awards 1990 and 1996, and Most Improved Junior Division Award in 1993.
WV State Rifle and Pistol Association elected Secretary-Treasurer in 1978 -1981 as part of the effort to resurrect the state association. Instrumental in helping the Association with the NRA State Association of the Year Award for 1979. As part of everyone’s efforts, the citizens of WV were able to add gun ownership rights to the state consultation in 1986 after a multi-year legislative process.
WV Military Vehicle Veterans Support Group co-founder. This state wide organization consisting of military vehicle owners and enthusiast whose purpose restoring and collecting vintage military vehicles using them supporting veteran’s activities and educating the public in the part these vehicles played as tools our military men and women used defending our country. Each year this group help provide vehicles for numerous parades and veterans activities, provided displays, and educating the public.
